Losar 2026 – Welcome to the Year of the Fire Horse – Apéro on Sat 21 Feb!
From 18 to 21 February 2026 we celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year festival. According to the Tibetan lunar calendar, the Year of the Fire Horse begins – a symbol of courage, energy and transformation. The fire horse brings powerful presence: it invites us to move forward boldly, overcome obstacles and take new paths with passion.
Losar is more than a change of calendar: it is a time of conscious renewal. In Tibet, houses are cleaned, altars decorated with ritual offerings and new prayer flags hung to carry blessings in all directions. Families gather, share festive dishes such as guthuk and khapse, say prayers and wish each other good fortune. It is a festival of gratitude for the past year and of hope for the one to come – a moment of pause in the cycle of time.
By the way: the fire horse that adorns our shop window and our greeting cards was drawn for Atelier Tibet by the Switzerland-based thangka and tattoo artist Jamyang Dhatsang.
Losar apéro at Atelier Tibet
Celebrate with us on Saturday, 21 February 2026, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Münstergasse 10 in Zurich. With rice wine, shapalay, butter tea, khapse and good wishes we will start the new year together.
