Losar 2026 - Welcome to the Year of the Firehorse
From February 18–21, 2026, we celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year.
According to the Tibetan lunar calendar, this marks the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse—a symbol of courage, energy, and transformation. The Fire Horse carries a powerful presence: it invites us to move forward with bravery, overcome obstacles, and pursue new paths with passion.
Losar is more than a change of date—it is a time of conscious renewal. In Tibet, homes are cleaned, altars are adorned with ritual offerings, and new prayer flags are hung to carry blessings in all directions. Families gather to share festive foods such as guthuk and khapse, recite prayers, and exchange wishes for good fortune. It is a celebration of gratitude for the year that has passed and hope for the year ahead—a meaningful pause within the cycle of time.
