About us

Since 1997 we have been bringing Himalayan culture to Zurich. Tibet is our root and our inspiration, Zurich our home. Our shop on Münstergasse is also a workshop: here we don’t just sell and advise – we also make jewellery by hand and carry out repairs, and this is where new designs take shape. Our range extends from pieces with a story to companions for everyday life. They come from workshops in Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and India or from our own atelier, often in small series, many as one-of-a-kind pieces.

Our story

From Lhasa to Münstergasse

The story of Atelier Tibet begins in old Lhasa, leads through India into exile in Appenzell and finally to a shop on Münstergasse in Zurich.

Atelier Tibet is a family business, carried by several generations and a small team. Advice, atelier and dispatch are in the same hands: whoever knots a necklace or repairs a piece of jewellery also knows the people it is meant for.

We want to keep the culture of Tibet and the Himalayas alive and to support old crafts. Our shop is also a place of encounter and conversation.

Craft we know

We are in close contact with our workshops in Nepal and India, with many of them for decades. This is how we ensure high quality, transparency and good working conditions.

Sustainability

Our products should be made without environmental toxins and without suffering for people or animals. Where transport routes are a burden, we avoid or shorten them wherever possible.
