Our values

We are there for you in person

We have had our store in Zurich since 1997, where you can meet us in person. And we want to keep it that way. The online store should be a relief for you if you are in a hurry or don't have the opportunity to come by in Zurich. You can see, feel and try on everything you find on these pages in the store. And you can also exchange it if you don't like what we've sent you.

We dream Tibet and live Zurich

We are Tibetans in exile. We are rooted in the Himalayas, but have lived in Switzerland for many years. Our mission is to build bridges. We want to promote Tibet and Himalayan culture and give our customers what we think they will like. If we cannot find something in the desired quality or form in the Himalayas, we realize it ourselves according to our ideas and have it produced in Zurich, Nepal or India.

༄ F air trade and appreciation of craftsmanship

We strive to promote craftsmanship in the Himalayas and keep the culture alive. That is why we mainly sell newly manufactured products and only rarely select antique pieces that already have a history. We maintain a lively exchange with our suppliers and their workshops in the Himalayan region. This enables us to guarantee high quality, transparency and fair working conditions and to stand up for fair trade.

Is it possible to sell artisanal products online?

We are allowed to deal with artisanal products that are often made by hand according to old traditions. They are not mass-produced goods, and sometimes they defy today's retail habits. Each piece is beautiful in its own right, but no two are exactly alike. At best, we get series, but with variations. Can you sell that online? Yes, we say - but only if the commitment is right. We do our best to keep the illustrations and descriptions accurate and to select the most beautiful item we have for you. And if you don't like what we've sent you, you can come by the store and exchange it for another one that suits you better.

༄ O ur jewelry is harmless to health

Why do we have to mention this? Because this is unfortunately not a matter of course in Switzerland either. Carelessly manufactured silver jewelry can contain impurities (e.g. nickel, cadmium or lead), which can irritate the skin. To rule out any risks, we have our imported jewelry inspected by the Swiss Precious Metals Control and stamp it with our guarantee stamp, with which we vouch for the quality of the goods.

We repair what you've grown fond of

Our long-standing customers know: while some stores' commitment ends with the sale, Atelier Tibet is still there if your favorite chain breaks or a stone falls out of a ring. If we can, we'll mend it. And if not, we know who can help.

Sustainability and CO2

Sustainability is good for the products. It goes without saying for us that they should be produced without environmental toxins and without harming people or animals - we don't compromise on that. We know our producers and know how the products are made. CO2 is a little more complicated. It is quite easy to break habits in some areas: Our company car is a cargo bike, and we don't have to fly around the world to maintain trade relations, because even in the Himalayas, cell phones are now a matter of course. But some of our goods have to be transported long distances, which inevitably generates CO2. Where we can, we avoid or reduce environmentally harmful transportation routes. Where we cannot, we compensate so that we can offer you all our products CO2-neutral.
