Amber necklace with a gold tassel

A distinctive long necklace made of irregularly rounded amber beads ranging in color from deep reddish-brown to black—almost dark when viewed from the front, but when held up to the light, many of the beads reveal a warm cherry-red core. Each bead is individually knotted; small knots between the beads keep the strand loose and even, and a gold-colored tassel completes the design. Amber is fossilized tree resin and has long been a prized jewelry material in the Himalayas, often combined with coral and turquoise. With a circumference of 87 cm, the necklace is designed without a clasp and can be worn long or doubled over.
