The "Melong" mirror amulet is an important symbol in Tibetan culture. It is regarded as a powerful protective amulet that is said to ward off negative energies and bring good luck and prosperity. The amulet shows a circular mirror with an eight-rayed sun in the center, surrounded by Sanskrit characters. The mirror is a perfect symbol of emptiness and pure consciousness. It is clear, bright and luminous and reflects all appearances unaffected, without the images appearing in it changing it in any way. It thus reveals the fact that all appearances are empty in essence.
It is said that the mirror has the ability to reflect harmful energies and protect the wearer from evil eyes and ominous influences. The amulet is often worn as a piece of jewelry or hung in houses and temples to create a positive and protected environment.
