Magnificent and very detailed statue of Amitabha Buddha, with a particularly finely chiseled robe.

Amitabhaalso known in Tibetan Buddhism as Buddha of boundless light is a central figure in Buddhist practice. He is one of the five Dhyani Buddhas and embodies infinite compassion, wisdom and the radiant luminosity of the pure mind. His name means "Infinite Light" or "Immeasurable Radiance". He stands for the compassion and salvation of all beings. His alms pot is a reminder that he unconditionally cares for the welfare of all and is meant to encourage the cultivation of generosity and helping others.

This statue was made in a traditional artisan workshop in Nepal and is made of copper. The height is 22 cm. It was fire-gilded in an elaborate process, giving it a radiant surface. The hair is painted deep dark blue in the traditional way.
