Buddha Dharmachakra Mudra miniature statue made of brass

Very small statue of the Buddha with Dharmachakra Mudra (meditation) gesture, which fits into a matchbox.

The Dharmachakra Mudra, also known as the wheel-of-teaching gesture, is associated with the Buddha's first sermon in the deer park of Sarnath, where he proclaimed the teachings of the Dharma and the Four Noble Truths. The hands are held in a special position: Both are at chest level, with the thumbs and forefingers of each hand forming a circle symbolizing the turning of the Dharma wheel. The right hand is facing outwards and the left hand is facing inwards, representing the connection between the outer and inner worlds.

The brass statue is made according to ancient tradition in a workshop in Nepal and is approx. 3.5 cm in size. As this is a handcrafted product, the patina and fine details of the piece supplied may differ slightly from those shown.
