Cotton Scarf - Tibetan Tiger, Blue · Studio Losel
Golden-yellow tigers on a slate-blue background, with an ochre-yellow border—this large cotton scarf brings the energy of Tibetan folk art to your skin in a light and airy way. The tiger has been a part of Tibetan imagery for centuries: on monastery walls, nomads’ travel chests, and the carpets of the nobility—as a symbol of strength, courage, and dignity, and as an expression of the Tibetan aversion to violence: the woven tiger took the place of real fur. Sonam Yesi’s interpretation of the motif is playful and intricate, radiating an energy that seems to never stand still.
Designed by artist Sonam Yeshi for Studio Losel, her contemporary Tibetan lifestyle label founded in Dharamsala. Sonam Yeshi—of Tibetan-American descent and a graduate of Parsons in New York—develops her print designs from large-scale paintings and objects inspired by Tibetan symbols, animals, and the nature of the Himalayas. Studio Losel was founded in 2025 together with her mother, Kim, and produces limited editions in collaboration with Indian hand-weaving workshops.
