Ganesha statue made of oxidized copper

This statue made of oxidized copper shows Ganesha in a multi-armed representation, as is common in the Nepalese-Tibetan cultural area. The carefully crafted details provide an insight into his symbolic meaning:

Ganesha sits in a relaxed, slightly agitated posture on a richly decorated lotus pedestal. In his four arms he holds various attributes that stand for his qualities - including an axe or ankush for cutting through obstacles, a bowl or sweet (modaka) as a sign of prosperity and inner fulfillment as well as other ritual objects. His slightly tilted elephant head with the long trunk, the elaborately decorated crown and the richly adorned body ornaments underline his role as the god of wisdom, new beginnings and good fortune.

The oxidized surface gives the statue an antique, grounded look and highlights the engravings and relief details particularly well. The piece was traditionally handcrafted in Nepal and is unique due to its individual patina.

Brief instructions for measuring ring size:

Method 1: Measure the inner diameter of a suitable ring

Method 2: Measure the circumference of your finger
  • Take a thin strip of paper or thread.

Tips:
