Silver Bell Pendant (Ghanta)
A small, distinctive bell pendant (ghanta): The smooth body of the bell is crowned by a half-vajra, whose prongs open above a round knob. A clapper swings inside, so that the bell rings softly when moved. The ghanta is the ritual bell of Tibetan Buddhism; it embodies the feminine principle and wisdom and, together with the vajra (the masculine principle, skillful means), forms an inseparable pair. Traditionally, it is held in the left hand, while the vajra is held in the right. Its fading tone is associated with the impermanence and emptiness of all phenomena. The pendant pairs well with the snake chains from Atelier Tibet (sold separately). Handcrafted in a traditional workshop in Nepal.
