Bowl with horizontal stripes

Delicate bowl on a tall foot, with a off-white ground is encircled by dense staggered blue rings encircling — both inside and out, from the base to the darkly contrasted rim. Simple line patterns are among the oldest repertoire of Japanese everyday tableware, where they suffice without a motif and thrive solely on rhythm and contrast. The raised foot lifts the bowl and makes it light to hold; the unglazed base ring provides a warm counterpoint to the cool blue. Perfect for rice, soups, muesli, or side dishes.
