Horse upper arm hoop in silver
Expressive solid silver upper bracelet with a three-dimensional horse as the central decorative element - embedded in a quatrefoil-shaped medallion frame with finely chiselled cloud tendrils and floral decoration. The open hoop tapers into tapered, engraved ends on both sides and is decorated with Tibetan tendril ornaments along its entire length. Made exclusively for Atelier Tibet, in a small limited edition for the Year of the Fire Horse.
Upper arm bands are worn above the elbow and have been part of the jewelry tradition in many cultures for centuries. Traditionally worn on special occasions, today they are also popular as a summer statement piece of jewelry. The open hoop can be adjusted to fit any upper arm. Hand-forged in a traditional silver workshop in Nepal - each piece is unique with slight variations in craftsmanship.
In Tibetan Buddhism, the wind horse (lungta) is one of the most important symbols of good luck. It stands for life energy, happiness and the upward wind of the spirit:
- The wind horse carries the wishing gemstone jewel (norbu) on its back and connects earth and sky.
- It symbolizes the power to carry good energy and prayers in all directions - hence the central motif on Tibetan prayer flags.
- The galloping horse stands for freedom, strength and the unhindered flow of happiness.
