Lokta paper sheet with golden lotus print. The lotus flower is a central symbol in Buddhism and stands for purity, enlightenment and spiritual awakening. Although it grows in muddy water, it remains untainted and thus symbolizes the overcoming of suffering and ignorance. The lotus flower represents the path to enlightenment, maintaining purity and clarity despite worldly challenges.
The paper is produced in a complex process in a traditional Lokta craft workshop from Lokta bark and then printed using a wood printing process. Each piece is unique, with small irregularities adding to the charm of this ancient natural product.
The paper sheets produced exclusively in small editions by Atelier Tibet are suitable for use as wall decorations or as fine wrapping paper, for example.
