River mantra stones without painting
Mani stones with the prayer "Om Mani Padme Hum". These mani stones have the traditional form of sunken relief, where an area around each letter is carved out so that the letters remain on the original surface level, which is now higher than the background.
Mani stones are of great importance in Tibetan Buddhist culture. They are stones, pebbles or slates on which the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" is engraved. This is why they are also known as "Mani stones". They often also feature Buddhas, Tibetan symbols or the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha.
The engraved stones are placed at places of pilgrimage and pilgrimage routes. In Nepal, these colorful stones can be admired everywhere on paths, walls, hills and in Tibetan monasteries. Their purpose is to overcome obstacles in life and to purify the karma of the deceased to enable a happier rebirth.
The making and carving of mani stones is a traditional sadhana of piety. Our mani stones are made in a traditional workshop in Nepal.
We sort them into four weight classes. Each stone is unique and may differ from the picture. We will select a beautiful specimen for you. If you are not satisfied with it, you can exchange it for a piece of your own choice in our store in Zurich.
