Vajradhara Buddha Statue aus Kupfer - Atelier Tibet

Vajradhara Buddha small copper statue

Characterful statue of Vajradhara made of copper - patinated in warm red-brown, with a lively surface texture and carefully chiseled details.

The deity sits in the lotus position (vajrasana) on a double-row lotus throne with a beaded edge. The arms are crossed in front of the chest (vajrahumkara mudra) - the right hand holds the vajra (thunderbolt), the left the ghanta (ritual bell). In this embracing gesture, method and wisdom unite to form the inseparable unity of the awakened spirit. The headdress and high crown follow the Newari style with delicately crafted ornaments; the neck ornament, belt and finely interwoven robe are carefully crafted, with curved lotus tendrils flanking the throne on both sides. The face is calm and turned inwards.

Vajradhara is the primordial Buddha (Adibuddha) - the highest embodiment of Buddhahood in the Tibetan Vajrayana, from which all Buddhas and the teachings of Tantra originate. In the Kagyu and Gelug traditions, he is regarded as the origin of the transmission lineages. The crossed vajra and the bell in front of the heart symbolize the perfect union of compassion and wisdom, male and female principle, from which the awakened reality emerges.

The statue is intended for ritual filling - a traditional act of consecration that activates the figure as a Dharma object.

Made in a traditional artisan workshop in Nepal.
