Mani stone "Om Mani Padme Hum"

Traditional Tibetan mani stone made of gray slate, carved by hand in Nepal. The complete mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is engraved into the naturally broken stone surface in Tibetan Uchen script - the most frequently recited mantra in Tibetan Buddhism, which embodies compassion and wisdom and is dedicated to the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Each of the six syllables stands for the purification of one of the six realms of existence.

Mani stones are of great importance in Tibetan Buddhist culture. They are stones, pebbles or slates on which the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" is engraved. This is why they are also known as "Mani stones". They are often engraved with Buddhas, Tibetan symbols or the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha.

The engraved stones are placed at places of pilgrimage and pilgrimage routes. In Nepal, these colorful stones can be admired everywhere on paths, walls, hills and in Tibetan monasteries. Their purpose is to overcome obstacles in life and to purify the karma of the deceased to enable a happier rebirth.

The making and carving of mani stones is a traditional sadhana of piety. Our mani stones are made in a traditional workshop in Nepal.
