Tulsi woodalso known as holy basil (Ocimum sanctum or Ocimum tenuiflorum), is a plant native to India with great spiritual significance in Hinduism. It is considered sacred and is associated with the goddess Lakshmi. In many Hindu households, tulsi is cultivated as a protective and purifying plant. The wood of the plant is traditionally used to make prayer beads (malas), especially by devotees of Vishnu (Vaishnavas). Tulsi is said to have healing and energetically cleansing properties and is often worn when reciting mantras. The wood is light, comfortable to wear and has a matt, warm surface.
