Singing bowls sound better with a base than when they are placed on a hard surface, where the vibration may not develop properly due to contact with the hard surface or the sound may rattle.

Traditionally, ring-shaped cushions made of silk and filled with cotton are used for the singing bowls.

These ring cushions are made of silk brocade and have a traditional Tibetan floral pattern. They are sewn by hand in Nepal and are also very decorative as a base for other vessels or objects.
