Mala made of Mongolian jade
A distinctive mala made of 108 polished beads in varying earth tones—ranging from deep olive brown to gray-green to light, almost beige stones, many with a mottled pattern and dark inclusions. The guru bead, in a warm golden brown, completes the circle, with two knotted cords featuring wrapped ends hanging below it.
The 108 beads correspond to the traditional number of a mala: As you recite, the beads slide one by one through your fingers until the guru bead marks the end of the cycle. Mongolian jade is a variety of nephrite and is one of the gemstones and ritual stones of Inner Asia that have been used for a long time.
The mala is hand-strung in a Nepalese workshop. Each mala comes in a silk brocade pouch, which we select to match the color of the mala.
Bead diameter approx. 8 mm · Circumference approx. 90 cm · 108 beads · Mongolian jade (nephrite) · Comes with a silk brocade pouch · Handcrafted in Nepal
