Wooden mala with a Buddha medallion

Hand-knotted mala made of 108 wooden beads with a vibrant, dark-striped grain. Attached to it is an oval medallion made of white metal with a silver finish, depicting the Buddha in a meditative posture—seated in the lotus position, hands in his lap in the gesture of contemplation (Dhyana-Mudra), surrounded by a halo. The 108 beads correspond to the traditional number of a Buddhist prayer bead and accompany the recitation of mantras and the counting of breaths during meditation.
