"A Shawl of Light· Yellow shawl made of yak down · CHARU × Yitso Hima

A timeless, very lightweight scarf made from the fine undercoat of white yaks, whose rich sunny yellow fades into a light creamy white at the edges. The undercoat of white yaks is combed out only once a year and is the finest and rarest of all yak fibers; resulting in a fabric that is correspondingly fluid and soft. The color is applied by hand, which is why each piece is slightly different. At two meters long, the scarf can be worn open, loosely draped around the neck, or draped over the shoulder.

Yitso (ཡིད་མཚོ།) is an ancient Tibetan name for Lake Manasarovar and can be translated as “Lake of the Spirit.” The YITSO HIMA brand is part of CHARU; its proceeds go toward long-term cultural and environmental initiatives in the Himalayas.

Care: Hand wash in cold water with wool detergent or have it professionally cleaned. Do not rub or wring out—gently squeeze out the water and let the scarf dry flat. Do not tumble dry or expose to direct sunlight. If necessary, iron on a low setting with a cloth placed between the scarf and the iron.
