Old tsampa bowl from Tibet

A beautiful lidded bowl, probably from the 19th century, which was once used to store the famous Tibetan barley flour (tsampa). This large, beautifully hand-crafted wooden bowl made of burl wood ("tiger wood") has a deep, multi-layered patina. Patches of lacquer tell of the bowl's eventful history.
