Old Tsampa bowl
This traditional tsampa bowl probably comes from Tibet or Nepal and was made from solid wood on a lathe. It has a typical, flat domed lid, which can also be used as an additional plate or bowl. The shape is harmoniously rounded, with a slightly flared rim and foot. The dark, partially polished surface shows signs of age, patina and occasional discoloration.
These bowls were used in everyday life by Tibetan nomads and monastery inhabitants to store and prepare tsampa - roasted barley flour mixed with butter tea or water. The inside is lighter in color and shows the natural traces of woodworking.
Provenance: The object comes from a private collection. It was acquired in Nepal around 1960. Details on request.

- Take a ring that fits well.
- Place it on a ruler and measure the inner diameter (from one inner edge to the other).
- Compare the diameter with the table to determine the ring size.
- Take a thin strip of paper or thread.
- Wrap it around the part of the finger where you want the ring to sit (not too tight).
- Mark the point where the ends meet.
- Measure the length of the strip in millimeters. This is the inner circumference.
- Find the right size in the table.
- Measure the finger size in the evening, as fingers swell slightly during the day.
- If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size.
- Make sure that the ring fits over the knuckle.
