Older silver brooch with turquoise

A unique, older brooch from a Tibetan jewelry collection.

The brooch consists of drop-shaped, natural, deep green Tibetan turquoise stones set in silver . The brooch has the shape of the upper part of a traditional Tibetan Akor earring.

The piece comes from an extensive collection of Tibetan jewelry from the 19th and 20th centuries and was probably never worn. Both the quality of the turquoise and the silver workmanship are exceptionally high.

Tibetan turquoise is a particularly valuable, bluish-green gemstone that is mainly found in the highlands of Tibet and partly in China. It differs from Persian or American turquoise due to its darker coloring with natural brown or black veins and inclusions, which give it a rustic, authentic look.
