Older silver brooch with turquoise
A unique, older brooch from a Tibetan jewelry collection.
The brooch has the shape of an "Akor" ear ornament with its typical ends in the form of stylized lotus buds and is set with flat Tibetan turquoise cabochons set in silver. The settings are elaborately decorated with fine silver wires and applied silver beads. The brooch can also be worn as a pendant on a chain.
The piece comes from an extensive collection of Tibetan jewelry from the 19th and 20th centuries and was probably never worn. Both the quality of the turquoise and the silver workmanship are exceptionally high.
Dimensions:
- Height: 59 mm
- Width: 20 mm
Tibetan turquoise is a particularly valuable, bluish-green gemstone that is mainly found in the highlands of Tibet and partly in China. It differs from Persian or American turquoise due to its darker coloring with natural brown or black veins and inclusions, which give it a rustic, authentic look.
