Elderly gold-plated Green Tara statue
This impressive statue of Green Tara embodies compassion, protection and the swift, helping activity of enlightened wisdom. It was made at the end of the 20th century by the renowned Nepalese artisan Roshan Shakya and is an expressive example of traditional Buddhist metal art.
The figure shows the Green Tara in her characteristic seated posture on a lotus pedestal, with her right leg slightly outstretched - a symbol of her constant willingness to free beings from suffering and danger. Her hands are depicted in classical mudras that express generosity, protection and compassion. The finely crafted face with alert eyes radiates vigilance, kindness and inner clarity. Richly ornamented robes, decorative elements and the detailed crown underline her spiritual presence.
The statue has an antique surface finish and has recently been regilded, preserving its historical character while enhancing its warm, noble aura.
