Large Onyx Pendant with Silver Ganesha and Coral

A striking, large pendant made of deep black, polished onyx with silver inlay decoration on both sides: The front features a finely chased Ganesha head, while the back features a different motif depending on the piece—in this case, a lotus flower. A round red coral set in silver is attached to the eyelet. Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is regarded in both Indian and Newari traditions as the Lord of Beginnings and is traditionally revered as the remover of obstacles. The lotus on the back is one of the eight symbols of good fortune in Tibetan Buddhism and is regarded as a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening. The pendant pairs well, for example, with the silver snake chains from Atelier Tibet (sold separately). Handcrafted in a traditional workshop in Nepal.
