Large Silver Pendant with Turquoise and Coral
A large, elegantly set silver pendant: A large, matrix-rich turquoise with a net-like “spiderweb” pattern sits at the center, framed by a twisted cord and a wreath of embossed loops and silver beads. The eyelet features a round red coral. Turquoise and coral are among the most highly prized materials in Tibetan culture. The reverse side is adorned with a finely chased lotus flower set amid dense tendrils. The lotus (Sanskrit padma, Tib. pema) is one of the Eight Symbols of Good Fortune in Tibetan Buddhism and is considered a symbol of purity: It takes root in the mud yet unfolds its blossom flawlessly above the water—an image of spiritual awakening. Handcrafted in a traditional workshop in Nepal.
