Necklace in Labradorite and Silver Beads

Necklace of labradorite beads in a dark grey-green that flash blue and green depending on the light. Between them sit five handmade silver beads with dotted decoration, loosely spaced across the front of the necklace.

The stone is named after the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, where it was described in the 18th century. Its characteristic play of colour, known as labradorescence, arises when light reflected from extremely fine layers within the crystal overlaps.

The necklace closes with a silver spring ring clasp.
