Hand-woven runner from Bhutan - yak wool, black with woven-in motifs
Striking runner made of deep black yak wool, featuring woven motifs in white, red, pink, blue, orange, and green. Rhombuses, crosses, and eternal knots are arranged in loose rows. At both ends, fine red and white bands frame a border, followed by twisted black fringe. The eternal knot is one of the eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism and represents the interconnectedness of all things.
The runner comes from a cooperative in Bhutan that promotes and produces hand-woven textiles in keeping with the country's cultural heritage. It is suitable as a table runner, wall hanging, or throw.
