Japanese ceramic plate with wave pattern

A clear, flat plate, over whose light surface are densely arranged wavy arches in deep blue, all the way the darkly contrasted rim. The pattern follows the Seigaiha, the “Blue Sea Waves” motif, which has been has appeared on textiles and tableware and is associated with a peaceful progress and recurring good fortune . The flag is only slightly raised, and the outline is intentionally not exactly circular—this gives the plate a calm, artisanal touch. Perfect for appetizers, sushi, pastries, or small main courses.
