Lokta Bow with Buddha

Natural-colored lokta paper featuring a hand-printed image of the Buddha resting in the meditation posture on a lotus throne—his right hand raised in a gesture of teaching, an alms bowl in his lap. Behind him stretches a richly decorated torana arch featuring the face of a guardian spirit (cheppu) and water spirits, surrounded by flowering branches; the base is adorned with two kneeling devotees and a double vajra. In Buddhism, the Buddha embodies enlightenment and inner peace. The paper is handmade from the bark of the lokta shrub and then printed using a traditional woodblock printing technique, making each sheet one-of-a-kind. The sheets are suitable as wall art or as elegant gift wrap.
