Matyáš Namai / Tom Taylor: The Life of the Dalai Lama

The authorized comic biography - A memorable portrait of perhaps the last Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama has been the spiritual and secular leader of Tibet for almost 450 years. But the question of his rebirth and succession is uncertain. Will Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, be the last? This authorized biography sheds light on the life of the Nobel Peace Prize winner. Born a farmer's son in 1935, Tenzin Gyatso was found to be the Dalai Lama at the age of two and trained in the capital Lhasa to be enthroned and become the Buddhist leader of Tibet at the age of 15. But when Chinese soldiers invade his country, he is caught between fulfilling his pacifist Buddhist teachings and his desire to defend his people.

Sensitively researched and picturesquely illustrated, this graphic novel tells the inspiring story of the Dalai Lama and offers remarkable insights into the dramatic events of his life and times. A profound and impressive portrait of a man who is both a peacemaker and a steadfast fighter for the freedom of the Tibetan people.
