Old Tibetan Monk's Cap Ewer

This so-called Monk's Cap Ewer probably dates from the 19th or early 20th century. It is made of copper and decorated with partial brass applications.

The vessel has the tapered shape typical of Tibetan ritual jugs with a short neck and a «monk's cap» spout, the jagged edge of which is reminiscent of the headgear worn by Tibetan lamas. The wide, relief-decorated decorative strip at the base of the neck is finely crafted with floral motifs in repoussé technique.

The handle is made of brass. The jug rests on a high, slightly flared base, which gives it stability despite its height.

The piece has a warm, dark gold patina with traces of use and age that emphasize its authenticity.

Method 1: Measure the inner diameter of a suitable ring
