The syllable AH is considered to be the original mantric sound of the universe. It is the first sound we pronounce at birth and, according to the Dzogchen teachings, is connected to our fundamental nature. It is often worn by Dzogchen practitioners as a protective device (especially when blessed by a master) or as a simple reminder of our true nature.
