Disc-shaped drop earrings from Tibet – gold-plated silver
Delicate, lightweight drop earrings: two round discs made of gold-plated silver, with surfaces that have been hand-brushed. The irregular brush strokes refract the light in many different directions, so that the discs glow with a matte sheen rather than reflecting light with every movement.
The brushed finish is created by hand using a steel brush—a technique that has long been used in Himalayan workshops for silver jewelry and results in each pair being slightly different.
Made by women artisans for Protsaah, a brand that works with women artisans from the Himalayas and enables them to earn their own income.
The earrings are worn on simple ear hooks with a small ball that are threaded through the earlobe without a clasp.
PROTSAAH was founded by Salonie Shrestha in Zurich and works with artisan communities whose skills have been passed down through generations. The name derives from the Sanskrit word protsaahan प्रोत्साहन—to encourage, to uplift.

Brief instructions for measuring ring size:
- Take a ring that fits well.
- Place it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter (from one inner edge to the other).
- Compare the diameter with the table to determine the ring size.
- Take a thin strip of paper or thread.
- Wrap it around the part of the finger where you want the ring to sit (not too tight).
- Mark the point where the ends meet.
- Measure the length of the strip in millimeters. This is the inner circumference.
- Find the right size in the table.
- Measure the finger size in the evening, as fingers swell slightly during the day.
- If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size.
- Make sure that the ring fits over the knuckle.
