Snow Lion Bag Charm in Wool and Felt

Bag or key charm in the shape of a snow lion’s head: a pale face of fulled wool fabric with yellow eyes, a dark red nose and a curving mouth, framed by a jagged dark green mane. A small brass bell sits in its mouth, with a tuft of green wool hanging below.

The snow lion is a mythical creature of Tibetan tradition, regarded as a symbol of fearlessness and joy. It appears in many folk tales, is revered as a protector of the Buddha and also features on the Tibetan flag.

The charm is made in a workshop in Dharamsala that offers Tibetan refugee women and women from the surrounding Indian villages work with flexible hours. It is filled with fabric offcuts from the workshop’s own production, so that as little material as possible goes to waste.

The lobster clasp on a short chain attaches it to a bag, backpack or key ring.
