Silver Ghau Pendant with Turquoise and Coral
A magnificently crafted oval silver ghau pendant: On the domed front, an oval turquoise cabochon sits at the center of a richly embossed design of flowers and vines, set within a twisted cord border. A teardrop-shaped turquoise stone crowns the upper Vajra finial, while two round coral beads sit at the lower edge. Turquoise and coral are among the most highly prized materials in Tibetan culture. A ghau (also known as a gao) is a portable Tibetan amulet case used to hold prayer texts, blessed fabrics, or a yantra diagram. The pendant can be opened and closed again. Handcrafted in a traditional workshop in Nepal.
