Sorig Cooling Massage Oil · Men-Tsee-Khang
A light massage oil that leaves the skin feeling cool, made according to a Tibetan medicine formula. The blend combines juniper, chirayita, tumburu, saffron, asparagus root, blackberry, and shilajit in a vegetable oil base. The scent is tart and herbal; the oil absorbs quickly and leaves the skin feeling refreshed.
In the classical texts of Sowa Rigpa, the “Knowledge of Healing,” a distinction is made between cooling and warming preparations, which are chosen according to the season and one’s constitution—this oil belongs to the cooling category. It is therefore particularly suitable for the warm season and after physical exertion.
Directions: Apply a small amount to the palms of your hands and gently massage into the desired areas of the body. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
The oil is produced by Men-Tsee-Khang, the Tibetan Institute of Medicine and Astrology in Dharamsala. The institute was founded in Lhasa in 1916 by the 13th Dalai Lama and reestablished in exile in India in 1961 by the 14th Dalai Lama; to this day, it trains doctors in Tibetan medicine and, in its own pharmacy, manufactures medicines and care products according to traditional formulas. Brief instructions for measuring ring size:
- Take a ring that fits well.
- Place it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter (from one inner edge to the other).
- Compare the diameter with the table to determine the ring size.
- Take a thin strip of paper or thread.
- Wrap it around the part of the finger where you want the ring to sit (not too tight).
- Mark the point where the ends meet.
- Measure the length of the strip in millimeters. This is the inner circumference.
- Find the right size in the table.
- Measure the finger size in the evening, as fingers swell slightly during the day.
- If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size.
- Make sure that the ring fits over the knuckle.
