Akshobhya Statue aus Kupfer - Atelier Tibet

Akshobhya small copper statue

Timeless statue of Akshobhya Buddha made of copper - patinated in warm red-brown, with a lively surface texture and carefully chiseled details.

The Buddha sits in the lotus position (vajrasana) on a double-row lotus throne with a beaded edge. The right hand reaches down to the earth over the knee - the bhumisparsha mudra (earth-touching gesture). His left hand rests in his lap and holds an upright vajra (thunderbolt) - his characteristic attribute that distinguishes him from the historical Buddha. The monk's robe draped over the left shoulder leaves the right shoulder bare; its hem is interwoven with fine tendril patterns. The hair is in the traditional snail curls and crowned by the ushnisha; the face is calm and turned inwards, with the urna between the brows.

Akshobhya is the "unshakeable one" - one of the five Dhyani Buddhas, lord of the eastern Pure Land of Abhirati. He embodies the mirror-like wisdom in which reality shows itself clearly and undistorted, and the overcoming of hatred and anger. The vajra in his hand stands for the indestructible, diamond-like nature of the awakened spirit; the earth-touching gesture refers to his steadfast determination.

The statue is intended for ritual filling - a traditional act of consecration that activates the figure as a Dharma object.

Made in a traditional artisan workshop in Nepal.
