Sokyi - Traditional Tibetan Earrings with Turquoise · CHARU × Yitso

Delicate, slender drop earrings made of strung spindle beads: matte silver alternating with finely granulated brass caps and serrated crown bands, with a turquoise bead in a warm blue-green hue at the center. The piece tapers downward into a smooth, teardrop-shaped tip, which lends a sense of calm to the elongated design.

The design is based on the sokyi, a pen-shaped earring that Tibetan government officials wore individually in their left ear as a sign of their rank. Historical pieces were crafted from gold with pearls and turquoise; here, the design has been reimagined in silver and brass, with a turquoise bead at the center.

The dangle earring is worn on an open silver ear hook—one at a time, in keeping with tradition.

Method 1: Measure the inner diameter of a suitable ring

Method 2: Measure the circumference of your finger
  • Take a thin strip of paper or thread.

  • Measure the length of the strip in millimeters. This is the inner circumference.
  • Find the right size in the table.
Tips:
