Turquoise(gyu, Tib. གཡུ།) is one of the most important gemstones in Tibet and has had ritual, protective and social significance there for thousands of years. As high-quality Tibetan turquoise deposits are largely exhausted today, these stones come from old stocks - another reason for their special value.
