Lokta Paper Notebook - Skull Design, Hand-Printed

These handmade notebooks feature a striking, graphic design: a densely packed pattern of small, hand-printed skulls runs across the covers. Available in three color combinations—light blue skulls on reddish-brown, cream-white on deep blue, and lime green on dark reddish-brown.

The skull is an ancient, cross-cultural symbol; in regions influenced by Buddhism, it is associated, among other things, with the transience of all life. Here, it appears in a playful, graphic form.

Lokta paper is painstakingly crafted by hand from the bark of the lokta shrub: it is boiled, pounded, scooped out of the water, and dried in the sun until it develops a texture that is both sturdy and velvety soft. It is known for its unique texture and is considered sustainable because the shrub’s bark regrows quickly—and it is also an important source of income for Nepalese communities.
