Older small Tibetan prayer wheel (Mani-Khorlo)
This small and light Tibetan prayer wheel (Mani-Khorlo) from the 20th century is a classic example of Buddhist craftsmanship from the Himalayas.
The cylindrical body is made of brass or a copper alloy and is decorated all around with raised Tibetan Sanskrit characters of the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum". Inside is a rolled-up paper scroll with thousands of prayer formulas, which are symbolically recited as the mill turns.
A fine chain weight ensures the even swing, while the handle is made of turned wood. The mill shows a beautiful, natural patina and signs of wear.
