Handmade old wooden ghee jar, probably from the Hunza tribe. Ghee is clarified butter that originated in ancient India and is often used in South Asian and Arabic cuisine, traditional medicine and religious rituals. Ghee is made by boiling butter obtained from cream and removing the liquid residue. The consistency, color and taste of ghee depend on the quality of the butter, the source of milk used and the duration of the cooking process. The purpose of ghee is to clarify the butter so that it does not spoil. In Hindu culture, the cow is sacred and butter is the only animal fat that Hindus eat.
The decorative vessel has fine decorative elements and a beautiful, deep patina from use, as can be seen in the pictures.
