Fatland, Erika: High above
A journey through the Himalayas - HØYT. En reise i Himalaya
After traveling through the wilds of Sovietistan and along the Russian border, award-winning bestselling author Erika Fatland is now drawn to the highest mountains in the world. For "Hoch oben" she traveled through the entire Himalayas - through Pakistan, Nepal, India, Tibet and Bhutan. Here she meets people who make a living at dizzying heights in the most adverse climatic conditions. In this exciting and informative travelogue, Erika Fatland tells us how these people cope and what keeps them there.
Erika Fatland takes us on a truly breathtaking journey to one of the most ethnically diverse and politically conflict-ridden regions in the world. Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism meet ancient shamanic traditions. Superpowers compete for influence. Modernity collides with tradition and a vast, timeless landscape. Erika Fatland spent a year traveling through the Himalayas. Not in search of spiritual enlightenment like so many mostly male authors who report on their arduous mountain tours and meditation experiences. Rather, Fatland is interested in the people she comes into contact with. She wants to know how they survive day after day under these conditions. In particular, she gains insights into the lives of women that would never be possible for a man, especially in very traditional societies. It is no coincidence that her journey ends with a visit to the Mosuo people, the "kingdom of women".

- Take a ring that fits well.
- Place it on a ruler and measure the inner diameter (from one inner edge to the other).
- Compare the diameter with the table to determine the ring size.
- Take a thin strip of paper or thread.
- Wrap it around the part of the finger where you want the ring to sit (not too tight).
- Mark the point where the ends meet.
- Measure the length of the strip in millimeters. This is the inner circumference.
- Find the right size in the table.
- Measure the finger size in the evening, as fingers swell slightly during the day.
- If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size.
- Make sure that the ring fits over the knuckle.
