Lokta Paper with Buddha Mandala

Natural-colored lokta paper with a hand-printed mandala, at the center of which a Buddha sits enthroned on a lotus flower. The circle is enclosed by a square palace with four gates, bordered by a ring of lotus flowers; at the four corners, additional Buddhas sit on clouds, while mountains and water frame the scene. Together with the central figure, they form the Five Dhyani Buddhas (Meditation Buddhas), recognizable by their different hand gestures. In Tibetan Buddhism, the mandala serves as a symbol of the cosmos and as an aid to meditation. The paper is handmade from the bark of the lokta shrub and then printed using a traditional woodblock printing process, making each sheet one-of-a-kind. The sheets are suitable as wall art or as elegant gift wrap.
