Buddha Amitayus Miniatur-Statue - Messing (4.5 cm)
Fein gearbeitete kleine Figur des Buddha Amitayus in Meditationshaltung auf einem doppelten Lotossockel, in dunkel patiniertem Messing. Beide Hände ruhen im Schoss in der Geste der Versenkung und halten ein Langlebensgefäss; hohe Krone, Schmuck und die feine Ausarbeitung von Gesicht und Sockel zeichnen das kleine Stück aus.
Amitayus - tibetisch Tshepame - ist der «Buddha des grenzenlosen Lebens». Er und der bekanntere Amitabha gelten als dasselbe erleuchtete Wesen in zwei bewusst unterschiedlichen Darstellungen: Amitabha erscheint als schlichter Mönch, Amitayus dagegen als gekrönte, geschmückte Gestalt. Erkennbar ist Amitayus vor allem an dem Gefäss in seinen Händen, das den «Nektar der Unsterblichkeit» enthält. In der tibetischen Tradition werden die beiden Formen nie vermischt; Amitayus wird in einer eigenen Zeremonie für langes Leben verehrt. Der prinzenhafte Schmuck mit Krone und Juwelen kennzeichnet, wie in der tantrischen Bildsprache üblich, die Buddhas des erweiterten Pantheons - im Unterschied zum stets als Mönch dargestellten Buddha Shakyamuni.
Die Rückseite ist ebenso ausgearbeitet, sodass die Figur von allen Seiten wirkt.
