Lokta Bow with Mantra

Natural-colored lokta paper with a hand-printed mantra mandala: In concentric rings, the syllables—written in Tibetan script—wind around a central lotus flower, whose six petals bear the syllables of the mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum.” Floral corner ornaments frame the design. This mantra of compassion is associated with the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and is the best-known prayer in Tibetan Buddhism. The paper is handmade from the bark of the lokta shrub and then printed using a traditional woodblock printing technique, making each sheet one-of-a-kind. The sheets are suitable as wall art or as elegant gift wrap.
